Position Summary: The primary function of the Director of Logistics is to manage and oversee the entire Supply Chain Dept. This includes the timeliness of materials being received in, how products are to be stored, and to ensure on-time of delivery of goods to the end user.  This position requires a forward- thinker and planner who seeks continuous improvements in all phases of the supply chain.

Reports to: Vice President of Global Supply Chain

Direct Reports: Warehouse Supervisors, Receiving Supervisor, Warehouse Leads, Logistics Clerk, Logistics Coordinator, Receiving and Inventory Specialists, Material Handlers

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: 7:00 am – 4:30 Monday-Thursday; 7:00am-12:00pm Friday (Hours May Vary)

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  1. Manage the submission, processing, and rectifying all freight claims.
  2. Direct all transportation and logistics efforts for Tiffin Metal.
  3. Collaborate with customs and air forwarding companies on importing/exporting goods.
  4. Manage all phases of the Supply Chain Dept.
  5. Identify, develop, and direct implementation of cost savings opportunities.
  6. Direct daily cycle counts and evaluate results and implement process changes as needed.
  7. Facilitate communication with Tiffin Metal satellite facilities on daily activities.
  8. Research and direct the implementation of the most cost effective and efficient modes of transportation for Tiffin Metal.
  9. Consult with 3rd party warehouse on process improvements.
  10. Create yearly budget for the department.
  11. Request refunds from service providers for late shipments and other overcharges.
  12. Define and direct the implementation of process improvements to optimize departmental and organizational performance.
  13. Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  14. Develop and direct the implementation of strategies and tactics to promote safe handling of goods efficiently use various modes of transportation while achieving corporate goals.
  15. Focus on carrier safety, compliance and contract negotiations with all transportation providers.
  16. Direct the loading and unloading process of all goods.
  17. Direct warehouse organization, safety and cleanliness. Comply with 5-S requirements.
  18. Direct inventory integrity.
  19. Continue to seek new and innovative ways of inventory control and warehouse improvements.
  20. Direct the disposal of surplus material.
  21. Identify, document, develop, and ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken for problems and negative performance trends.
  22. Assist in Physical Inventory.
  23. Ensure that the work instructions and written procedures are maintained and updated when changes to the process is changed.
  24. Oversee the training schedule for each associate including safety related topics.
  25. Submit improvement ideas.
  26. Participate in maintaining a clean and safe work environment for our associates.
  27. Comply with all safety, health, environmental procedures and company policies.
  28. Maintain cordial and professional relationships with all customers and associates with conducting company business.
  29. Follow all Company Policies, Procedures, Instructions and record keeping requirements.
  30. Initiate action to prevent problems relating to products, processes, environment, safety and quality/environmental system requirements.
  31. Control further processing until the problem has been corrected.
  32. Represent the needs of the Customer when making Quality decisions.
  33. Develop and implement department goals and objectives and communicating results on regular basis to associates.
  34. Monitor, track and present performance trends pertaining to area of responsibility.
  35. Conduct quarterly performance evaluations for associates.
  36. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements:

  1. Associates degree preferred
  2. 5+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics or operations management
  3. 2+ years of direct management experience
